How a fitted dress should fit
Stretch decides the size. A bodycon dress in a stretch fabric should hold without pulling into lines across the hips. A pencil dress in a woven fabric has little give, so choose by your largest measurement and have the rest taken in.
Room to move. A pencil skirt needs a vent or split at the back for walking and stairs. Check the dress has one if it ends below the knee.
Underneath. Fitted dresses show every seam. Seamless underwear in your skin tone is the one thing that makes them look right.
